Rusty S. & Pitti Blue o Le Sorelle I-IV aka The Law of Remains juxtaposes sculptures, audio, video, assemblages, scripts, and costumes around a kinetic, theatrical installation. The work is presented as an apocalyptic, tragicomic and mortiferous fantasy developed around a puppet show. The protagonists are Le Sorelle – Rusty S. & Pitti Blue –, two glam and gothic looking skeletons that perform a grotesque emotional screech in front of an audience of pigs. Their performance provokes a progressive crescendo of psychocorporal reactions in the audience. Trapped and captivated by the repetitive, schizophrenic and tribal rhythm of the performance and their hallucinations, drifting between out-of-tune lullabies, teasings and pranks, sudden appearances, noisy carnivalesque inversions, the dispersed and fragmented identities of the audience quickly become part of the performance, characterizing the theatrical space as a place saturated with pain, presences, affects, and impulses. Starting from an image of death as sleep, the work pours into a psychedelic spleen, a layering of practices, meanings, forms and intensities that characterize MRZB's polifonic research.
Rusty S. & Pitti Blue o Le Sorelle I-IV is the third fragment of STILI DRAMA, a para-cinematic work that the collective develops episodically, appropriating the formats of the spectacle – magic tricks, film, theater – by deflating them and re-presenting them as grotesque film sets, filmic fragments, publications, monstrous horrific and other characterisations.
